A lot is being written about branded diamonds, branding in
the jewelry marketplace. So many new "diamond brands" have evolved over
the past few years it is hard to keep up with all the new initiatives. One
thing is for sure and that is there are more diamond brands today than
ever before. It used to be that the round or "brilliant" diamond was the
only diamond that was "branded". Now you can find new cuts of
diamonds that are branded or variations of the traditional cuts that are
now "branded". Whatever the reason, branding has intensified the
marketplace, the positioning for customer acceptance has reached a fever
pitch and it will continue until the market decides which brands stand
out. If you are in the market to purchase a diamond remember that
"branding" a diamond, or anything comes with a price--usually a higher
cost than a non branded is that the satisfaction of knowing a "brand"
should add value and maintain some consistency. But with diamonds you have to ask
yourself can I tell a brand by looking at it, is it worth more than an
unbranded diamond with similar characteristics (particularly rounds or
brilliants), is the diamond the brand or is the jewelry the
brand? Should I buy a national or internationally known brand, a regional
brand, a local brand? Or should I buy a good generic with a diamond
grading report or no report at all? Tough questions.
We have decided to list several brands of diamonds for you
to check out and decide for yourself. Keep in mind that a diamond brand
will almost always cost more than a non branded diamond even with a
diamond grading report. It's what's important to you that counts.
Following
are some diamond brands. Some are well known, others are relatively new.
branding is the buzz word that every industry promotes today. Diamonds are
no exception. Some brands will become popular and command a premium price,
others will not. Marketing as well as the market will decide.
The various
diamond brands promote different qualities, cuts, and or treatments. We do
not attempt to group them or promote them. Only brands that have websites
have been included.
